Privacy Policy

Gridline is built for law enforcement professionals who handle sensitive information every day. We take that trust seriously. This policy explains exactly what we collect, how we use it, and what we never do with it.

Effective date: June 5, 2026  ·  Gridline Network LLC

1. Who We Are

Gridline is operated by Gridline Network LLC ("Gridline," "we," "us," or "our"). Gridline is a closed, verified contact directory for active sworn law enforcement professionals. It is not open to the public.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Gridline mobile application and any associated websites, including checkgridline.com (collectively, the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to verify your identity as a law enforcement professional and to operate the directory. We do not collect information for advertising or marketing purposes.

Information you provide directly:

  • Full legal name
  • Rank and title
  • Agency or department name
  • County and state of assignment
  • Unit or division
  • Agency-issued email address
  • Work phone number (optional, displayed in your directory profile if provided)
  • Government-issued identification documents submitted for manual verification (which may show your badge or credential number, used only to confirm your status during review)
  • Content you create in the app — direct and group messages, and posts and comments in the member Forum

Information collected automatically:

  • A push notification token — only if you enable notifications — so we can deliver the alerts you opt into
  • Limited technical and diagnostic data processed by our infrastructure and subscription providers (Supabase, Apple, RevenueCat) to operate and secure the Service, governed by their own privacy policies

We do not use analytics SDKs, and we do not track your activity for advertising or marketing. Gridline does not collect your IP address for tracking purposes.

How we verify you:

Verification is currently performed by manual review of the identity documents you submit (such as your badge or agency ID, or an employment-verification letter) by Gridline administrators. We plan to add government-backed identity verification through ID.me; once it is active, we will share only what is necessary for that check. We do not receive or store your Social Security Number.

No public data. No social profiles. No surveillance. We do not collect your personal social media accounts, personal email address, home address, or any information unrelated to your law enforcement role.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for three purposes only:

  • Verification. To confirm that you are an active sworn law enforcement professional before granting access to the network.
  • Directory listing. To populate and maintain your profile within the Gridline network, visible only to other verified members.
  • In-app communication. To enable direct messaging between verified members within the platform.

We do not use your information for advertising, analytics sold to third parties, or any purpose unrelated to operating the Service.

4. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not share your data with data brokers or any third party for their own commercial purposes.

Your profile information is visible only to other verified Gridline members while you have an active account.

We share limited information with the following service providers, only to the extent necessary to operate the Service:

  • Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure. Profile data, messages, and application data are stored on Supabase-managed servers in the United States.
  • ID.me (planned) — government-backed identity verification we plan to add. We do not currently share your information with ID.me; until it is active, identity verification is performed by manual review of the documents you submit.
  • RevenueCat & Apple App Store — subscription billing and management. Membership is an auto-renewing in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple; Gridline never receives or stores your payment card information. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, and it receives a Gridline account identifier for that purpose.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery (application status updates, renewal reminders, account notifications). Only your agency email address is shared with Resend for delivery purposes.
  • Apple — app distribution (App Store) and push notification delivery (APNs). Device tokens are used only to deliver notifications you have opted into.

We may disclose information if required by a valid legal process, court order, or law enforcement request — though as a law enforcement-serving platform, we take such requests seriously and will notify you unless prohibited by law from doing so.

5. Data Retention

Verification documents (government-issued ID, badge photos, or credential submissions) are permanently deleted immediately after an approval or rejection decision is made. We do not retain copies of identity documents beyond what is needed to complete the verification decision. This applies both to initial applications and to annual re-verification submissions.

Profile data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile is removed from the directory immediately and your associated data is permanently deleted without undue delay (typically immediately).

Application data from denied applicants — including name, agency, and email — may be retained for fraud-prevention purposes and is deleted upon your request or when it is no longer needed for that purpose. Verification documents are deleted immediately after the decision, as described above.

Message history. Direct and group messages are automatically and permanently deleted 30 days after they are sent, unless you save a message. Saved messages are retained until you unsave or delete them, or until your account is deleted.

Forum posts and comments remain visible to verified members until you delete them or an administrator removes them, and are removed if you delete your account.

Security logs. Our infrastructure provider (Supabase) may retain limited technical logs for a short period for security monitoring. Gridline does not collect or store your IP address for tracking or advertising.

6. Messaging and Encryption

Important disclosure: Messages sent through Gridline are encrypted in transit (TLS) but are not end-to-end encrypted. This means message content may be accessible to Gridline in connection with a legal request, security investigation, or abuse review. Do not send CJIS-covered information, active case details, classified materials, or civilian PII through Gridline messages.

Gridline is a professional contact directory and communication tool — it is not a secure evidence-sharing system or a replacement for your agency's authorized communication infrastructure.

7. Security Practices

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • All data transmitted to and from the Service is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security)
  • Database access is controlled through role-based permissions
  • Authentication is handled through Supabase Auth with secure session tokens
  • All applicant data is stored in access-controlled environments
  • Verification documents are permanently deleted immediately after review

In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable state law, generally within 30–72 hours of discovery. Notification will be sent to your agency email address on file.

No system is completely secure. If you become aware of a security concern related to Gridline, please contact us immediately at support@checkgridline.com.

8. Your Rights and Account Deletion

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information in your profile
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

To delete your account: You can delete your account directly within the Gridline app via the account settings menu. Deletion takes effect immediately — your profile is removed from the directory and your account and associated data are permanently deleted from our systems without undue delay.

To submit a deletion request or access request outside of the app, contact us at support@checkgridline.com from your registered agency email address.

9. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Know. You have the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, how it is used, and with whom it is shared.
  • Right to Delete. You have the right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Correct. You have the right to correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is nothing to opt out of.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at support@checkgridline.com or by mail at the address below. We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days.

Categories of personal information collected: Identifiers (name, agency email); professional or employment information (rank, agency, unit); and commercial information (membership status).

Purpose of collection: Identity verification and operation of the professional contact directory.

Third parties with whom we share data: Service providers only (Supabase, Apple, RevenueCat, Resend), as described in Section 4.

10. Children's Privacy

Gridline is intended solely for active adult law enforcement professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via in-app notification or by email to your registered agency address at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

The most current version of this policy will always be available at checkgridline.com/privacy.
