1. Who may use Gridline
- Gridline is a closed network for active, sworn law enforcement professionals only. It is not open to the public.
- You must register with your official agency or government (.gov) email address and provide accurate, truthful information about your identity, agency, and role.
- One account per person. You may not share, sell, transfer, or let anyone else use your account, and you may not impersonate another person, rank, agency, or role.
- You must promptly update or close your account if you leave law enforcement or your eligibility otherwise changes.
2. Content you may never post or share
You agree not to upload, post, message, or otherwise share any of the following on Gridline — in your profile, in direct or group messages, or in the Forum:
- Data from restricted law-enforcement systems — including CJIS, NCIC, NLETS, III, state/local criminal-justice databases, or any information derived from them.
- Criminal history record information (CHRI), rap sheets, or background-check results.
- Personal information about suspects, victims, witnesses, informants, or civilians — names tied to cases, dates of birth, SSNs, home addresses, license plates, phone numbers, photos, or similar identifying data.
- Active or ongoing investigation details — case files, reports, evidence, surveillance, operational plans, tactics, or anything that could compromise an investigation or officer safety.
- Confidential, classified, sealed, or legally protected information, including grand-jury material, sealed records, and anything subject to a court order or non-disclosure requirement.
- Undercover identities, confidential-informant information, or protected-witness details.
- Anything whose disclosure would violate the law, a court order, your agency's policy, or the rights of any person.
3. Conduct that is not allowed
The Forum is for professional questions, peer guidance, training, and general discussion — not for requesting record or database lookups, sharing case or intelligence data, or any restricted information listed above.
- Using Gridline to conduct or assist an official investigation, or treating it as an investigative or records-lookup tool.
- Asking another member to run a search, plate, record, or database query on your behalf, or doing so for another member.
- Harassment, threats, intimidation, discrimination, doxxing, or sharing another member's information outside Gridline without consent.
- Scraping, copying, exporting, or compiling the member directory or other members' data, by any automated or manual means.
- Commercial solicitation, advertising, recruiting, political campaigning, or spam.
- Attempting to circumvent verification, access controls, or security; probing or attacking the service; or accessing data you are not authorized to access.
- Any use that violates applicable law or your department's policies, rules, or code of conduct.
4. Your responsibilities
- You are solely responsible for everything you post, send, or share, and for ensuring it complies with the law and your agency's policies.
- You must keep your login credentials secure and notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
- You agree to report violations of this policy that you become aware of (see Section 7).
- Your conduct on Gridline is your own — Gridline is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any agency, department, or government entity.
5. Enforcement
Zero tolerance. Gridline has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive members. We review reports of objectionable content and abusive behavior and act within 24 hours — removing the content and, where warranted, suspending or permanently removing the responsible member.
We take violations seriously. Depending on severity, we may take any of the following actions, with or without notice:
- Remove content, issue a warning, or restrict features.
- Suspend or permanently terminate your account.
- Preserve and, where required or appropriate, report violations to your agency, employer, or law-enforcement/legal authorities.
Accounts terminated for violating this policy are not eligible for a refund. Termination does not limit any other remedy available to us or to affected parties.
6. Legal requests for member data
Gridline may receive subpoenas, court orders, warrants, or other legal demands for member information or content. We will respond to valid legal process as required by law. Where we are legally permitted to do so, we will make reasonable efforts to notify the affected member before disclosing their information. We may also preserve and disclose information when we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with law, enforce this policy, or protect the safety of any person.
7. Reporting and blocking
If you see content or conduct that violates this policy, use the in-app Report tools or email us at support@checkgridline.com. You can also Block any member directly from their profile in the app — a blocked member can no longer see your profile or contact you. Reports are reviewed by Gridline administrators and acted on within 24 hours. Do not include any prohibited data (Section 2) in your report — describe the issue instead.
8. No official use; no warranty of content
Gridline is provided for professional networking and contact only. It is not an official system of record, is not approved for the storage or transmission of any protected or restricted data, and must not be relied upon for official law-enforcement purposes. Gridline does not verify the accuracy of member-posted content and is not responsible for it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and your continued use of Gridline after a change means you accept the updated policy.
